“Actors struggling for survival in a crumbling old house in today’s Istanbul decide to act out a play, Molière’s “Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme” to overcome their despair and to prove that they can still make it. They start preparing the performance despite their difficult circumstances. First of all, they invite their old colleagues scattered around the town. One of these former actors has now become a bear-leader, one sells bird food, one is homeless, one Works in the Janissary Band while another Works in a brothel. During the performance, the actors notice that they are combining the universal beauty of Molière’s genius as it reflects through “Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme” with their own culture and experience. While identifying their lives with the play they put forward the wonder of blending the universal human condition with their individual feelings.
