ANKARA ART THEATRE
- Written by: Eşber Yağmurdereli
- Directed by: Rutkay Aziz
After reading “The Scorpion” by Yağmurdereli, ı realized once again, that each death sentence is a murder. I can not tell here, what a great decline it means for humanity. Whoever does not fight against capital punishment, has a heart of stone. I believe that everyone who watches this play, no matter how hard their own hearts may be, or how debased they themselves may be, will leave the theatre as an opponent of this terrible practice. Altough it is Yağmurdereli’s first play, he has succeeded in creating a masterful from that suits the subject matter. Yağmurdereli’s powerful and beautiful Turkish reaches beyond the form. Not only in Turkey, but in every country this masterpiece will be received with its own power and will make people move against this most shameful wound of humanity- or at least decrease the number of hard hearts.” Yaşar Kemal
