THE WATERMILL WEST BERKSHIRE PLAYHOUSE
- An adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Henry VI” plays: Edward Hall and Roger Warren
- Directed by: Edward Hall
We would like to thank S. BEYAZIT ŞİRKETLER GRUBU for sponsoring this performance.
One of the most innovative young directors of Britain, Edward Hall together with Roger Warren will present a new adaptation of Shakespeare’s historical drama "VI. Henry” renamed as "Rose Rage" in the 13th International İstanbul Theatre Festival.
The two-part adaptation can be viewed separately or together as a double event.
In one way Hall has set up a traditional production since the play has an all-male company of actors as was in Shakespeare’s era, while he presents an astonishing performance by bringing together various modes of modern technology. The play is set in a modern slaughter house where especially the alienation effects used in the scenes of combat draw attention, as well as the music, sound effects and the lighting design. Shakespeare’s master works, which are never outdated, seem to have gained in "Rose Rage", a more striking and remarkable quality. "Rose Rage" will open at the Hay Market Theatre in London just after the İstanbul tour.
