"Suffering" is a two part project made up of two of Sarah Kane’s texts, "Crave" and "Psychosis 4.48". The plays of Sarah Kane treated as ‘Theatre of Extreme’, are among the first examples of the ‘New Writing’ which is being widely spread all through the world in recent years. Born in 1971, Sarah Kane wrote texts which were performed on many stages in the world in the first few years of her career and which brought Kane to the attention of the public and the critics. The reactions to her work have remained ambivalent during her lifetime, her first play provoking outrage in some critics. "Crave" premiered at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh in 1998. The play dramatises the mental torment of four individuals who are torn between the pressure of love lost and passion of desire, or the conceptual structure constructed by the rhythm of visions and sounds. In her last play which had its world premiere in London in 1999, the audience confronts with a cry in search of the empathy enabling human conscience convey itself to another individual. These texts are quite irritating yet sincere, her use of language is keen and delightful, relating a world full of violence but at the same so sensitive, and requiring the courage to face and stand by one’s own reality. These two Kane plays connected to each other are translated and staged for the first time in Turkey.
