Plasticiens Volants, the guest of The International İstanbul Theatre Festival as part of the celebrations of the 30th year of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts is one of the most renowned street theatres of France. Having toured not only almost every European country, but South America and Australia also, the company participated at the closing ceremony of the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992 as well as fascinating the audience with their astonishing performance at the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. The recent production of the Company "The Language of the Birds" is inspired by a Persian tale written by Farit al Attar in the VII. Century. All the birds in the universe set out on a journey to find their king Simurgh. After they pass over seven seas, they finally reach the palace of the king to realise only that each of them individually and as a group are the Simurgh himself. Through their long journey the birds not only live joyous adventures full of love, but also confront hardships and must overcome obstacles under the threat of the Azrael. The first performance of Plasticiens Volants “Parade” will take place at Ortaköy with smiling fishes and “The Language of the Birds” will be at Taksim Square. The colourful giant birds will bring a spectacular show not only by dancing and music but also with superb firework and projector display to the İstanbul citizens, which they will not forget for years.
