Henrik Ibsen’s classic “A Doll’s House-Nora” stunned 10th century theatre audiences with its fresh portrayal of sexual politics. Now, more than 120 years later, German director Thomas Ostermeier’s update proves the poneering play is as powerful and poignant as ever. Thomas Ostermeier examines the parallels between how we live today and how the bourgeoisie of the late nineteenth century lived. What change has the women’s movement brought about in the past 120 years? Has there been any change? How conservative are we when it comes to our ideas of personal happiness? Ostermeier highlights these points to transpose the Ibsen-classic to the present day.
