Adapted for the scene by renowned theatre director Guy Cassiers, Jeroen Brouwers’ autobiographical novel Sunken Red tells the story of Japanese prison camps of the Second World War from the point of view of a child. Emerging around themes such as mother-son relationship, love, literature and death, the play is staged as a monumental monologue by Dirk Roofthooft, with an innovative stage design involving impressive sound and light installations.
