The freedom fighter Simon Bolivar manages to escape from Spanish troops. A shadowy group comprised of Spanish soldiers and a religion-monger priest, begin to torture officer Montserrat to reveal Bolivar’s hiding place, after finding out that the officer helped Bolivar to escape. The ordeal of Montserrat exceeds personal torture reaching to a level of killing innocent people and leads to sting of conscience. Throughout history, people have been obliged to pay the price for their freedom regardless of religion, language, race, or class. And the play questions what we could sacrifice to gain our freedom.
