Inspired by Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula.
Grzegorz Jarzyna’s play Nosferatu is based on Bram Stoker’s Dracula - one of the most important texts of popular culture. Using this psychological and metaphysical thriller, Jarzyna shows how single fears and obsessions materialize in social life. The play is an excellent study of human need for transgression, crossing material, social or symbolic limitations, breaking free from carnality and identity and the longing for “the Other”. Dracula and vampire stories now appear on stage told in an unusual language enriched with cinematographic elements.
The project is organized as part of the 2014 cultural programme celebrating 600 years of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Poland. www.turkiye.culture.pl
