Istanbul. Tanzimat reform era. Ottoman students, public servants, artists were being sent to several European cities to examine Western culture and lifestyle “on-site”. Dignitary Latif Effendi is one of those. But he gets bitten by a vampire in Europe and returns to his homeland with the unfavourable “vampirety institution” instead of Western science and arts. The play, which humorously depicts Latif Effendi’s adventures, focuses on bloodsuckers of the society in the history while creating a social panorama of the Tanzimat era.
