What is it disturbing us? What does it we accept or deny during our lives? Where do our ambitions take us? What are we looking for? “Wizard of the words” Boris Vian’s last play, his sarcastic tragedy The Empire Builders, begins with such questions. A family living in a high-rise apartment flees from a mysterious groaning noise and escapes to the ever-narrowing upper floors. Without knowing even what is terrifying, every escape turns out to be a journey to solitude and moral breakdown. Designed by Selin İşcan with the stage direction of renowned Macedonian director Aleksandar Popovski, the play is produced by Hayal Perdesi for the festival. Travelling through the darkest ambitions of the people who are dismissing the for the sake of their needs, the play reveals the denial of life until last confrontation, through tragicomic characters.
