During the 1880s when the uses of electricity were discovered, idealist doctor Mr. Givings invents a machine to cure hysteria. Today, considered as the origin of vibrators, this new machine is seen to be the final remedy for hysteria. Obsessed with technology, Dr. Givings is not fully certain if his machine is useful, but cannot resist his patients’ persistence to continue his treatment. Sarah Ruhl’s provocative and entertaining play was nominated for Tony Awards and staged in many countries. It will be staged in Turkey for the first time by ikincikat.
