The story begins when news of the Assassination in Sarajevo, which triggered Great War, reaches Prague and goes on to tell the adventures of good-hearted, naive soldier Švejk in the army. The Good Soldier Švejk is a dark comedy, which approaches war in a humorous way and slams warmongering, militarism, the most cruel wars of human history with all their absurdity and ridicule.
