Tadeusz Konwicki’s 1965 production Salto is one of the outstanding movies of Polish cinema. The year the movie was produced also marks the time when the phenomenal Polish Film School starts to flourish.
Salto is the story of Kowalsky-Malinowsky, a stranger suspended between reality and dream that visits an isolated town in slumber. Kowalsky-Malinowsky gives contradicting accounts of the reasons of his visit and about his character to the seemingly confined inhabitants of the town. Salto is a mysterious Poland ‘allusion’ with a robust theatrical script and a Kafkaesque narrative. Salto is a play that doesn’t rely on absolute reality, contains countless and endless ways that you can view yourself. It makes us understand the games we play with our lives as well as the games we play with the world – not only the tricks we pull on others but also to ourselves. We dance the Salto –possibly the only real dance– till the day we die.
Salto has been realised with the support of The State Theatre of Istanbul and sponsorship of Grotowski Institut, and collaboration.
TEATR ANDRA

Salto is included in the repertory of Kadıköy Theatron, and has been presented to the audiences at the State Theatre of Thessalonica, Festival of Ancient Drama and Politics, the International Ankara Theatre Festival, and at the Grotowski Institute in April 2018.
