A workshop with Uppercut Dance Theater is one of those hard-to-define, impossible-to-encapsulate experiences, that is difficult to describe in a one-liner with a specific genre or technique.

Drawing on their practice from multiple styles such as capoeira, break, street genres, contemporary dance and acro-dance, the dance company has established a distinct style that fuses the acrobatics and dynamism of floorwork and power moves with contemporary dance.

You can expect to be in contact with the floor and in dialogue with your muscles; for your core to be the connection between the upper and lower body, that will often find itself in twisted and reversed positions. By seeing the world upside down, your perception will undoubtedly shift.

We’ll be working on pairing the sensationalism of acrobatics with the sensibleness of contemporary dance – always with a focus on the participants personal body language and artistic expression.

Important Notice: Participants should bring comfortable clothing for the training. The workshop will last 2 hours, language will be English and translation will be provided.
