We would like to thank the technical staff of the State Theatres and the students at AST for their efforts in the realization of the setting.

Based on “A Life Story” by Klaus Mann (son of Thomas Mann and nephew of Heinrich Mann, both wellknown german authors), “Mephisto” (1936) was adapted to stage by Arianne Minouchkine, directress of Theatre du Soleil. The story was also filmed by Istwan Szabo in 1981, which won the Best Foreign Film Oscar Award.

“Mephisto” tells the story tells the story of an actor during the Nazi regime in Germany, who has to make a choice of leaving the country or making a compromise with the ideology he hates. He stayes and throughout the play he becomes more and more a part of it.
