During the declining years of the Ottomans, the Empire was ruled by the triangle of the Sultan, the Harem and the Vizier who were all compassionate for power over the other, thus constantly plotting schemes. Among these intrigues the most dominant angle of this triangle is the Harem. Behind its closed doors, the mothers and the beloved ones of the Sultansa re in eternal dispute. The play takes place at the time of Selim II. And the characters of the triangle are the Vizier Sokollu, the Sultan’s mother Valide Sultan, her son Murad and Murad’s wife Haseki Sultan. Their personal conflicts and their common ambition to rule makes up the main theme of the play.
