How do borders and displacement shape language?

In Language: no broblem, award-winning performer Marah Haj Hussein weaves a train journey in Belgium with recordings of her family living in occupied Palestine. Exploring the relationship between Palestinian Arabic and Hebrew, the performance shows how one language can gradually suppress another across generations, revealing a less visible dimension of colonialism. Blending humour, anger, love and absurdity, Haj Hussein embraces aspects of language that cannot always be translated and invites audiences to reflect on resistance.

• The venue is accessible by the M4 metro and B1 Marmaray (Ayrılık Çeşmesi Station, Exit 1 – Hastaneler, 900 m), as well as by bus and minibus (Koşuyolu Köprüsü stop, approximately 500 m).
• There is an access ramp at the venue entrance, after which the interior is step-free.
• The auditorium can be reached by lift and is wheelchair accessible.
