As the Istanbul Theatre Festival celebrates its 30th edition, it joins forces with the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet and MDTistanbul for a co-production.
Originally created by choreographer Fernando Melo for Danish Dance Theatre in 2023, Leaning Tree takes inspiration from the enigmatic world of Danish painter Vilhelm Hammershøi. Bodies appear and disappear, move in slow motion and defy gravity as reality loses its meaning in interiors filled with silence and uncertainty. Set to Signe Lykke’s symphonic score, recorded by Copenhagen Phil, the production is brought to the stage anew with MDTistanbul.
