“Garbage Dump” is set in “the Middle Ages of the twenteeth century”. The three protagonists, in an “ogre faced garbage dump” which is their (and everyone’s) “mutual father”, wrestle with poverty, loneliness, fate, with God ‘s deeds and dwellings, with lives past and lives wasted. Turgay Nar’s plays (“Garbage Dump” in particular) are richly poetical. This owes to the fact that he came into drama after a long affiliation with poetry. As well as reflecting this characteristic, “Garbage Dump” displays the spell, the mystery and the exuberance of theatre, drawing from many sources including legend and the playwright’s own life experiences. Created by masterly work of all artists involved, “Garbage Dump” was first presented this year and received high acclaim.
