THE DAVID GLASS ENSEMBLE – THE CRUCIBLE THEATRE, SHEFFIELD
- Adapted from Federico Fellini’s Work: David Glass Paul Sand
- Directed by: David Glass
We will now be able to see one of the master Works of celebrated director,-Federico Fellini- as a musical on stage: “La Dolce Vita”. An eminent British director of the recent years an done of the important representatives of physical theatre, David Glass, treads musical ground with “La Dolce Vita”, yet keeping the social criticism of the story. Decadence, a decaying order, decline...All of the facts underlined by Fellini reappear in the work by david Glass. He uses all the popular theatre traditions that inspired Fellini-the circus, the cabaret, the cat walk...Glass’ view of love, betrayel and the media seem to have transformed Rome of the 1950s to our day. The music is an arrangement by Paul Sand of the Works of Nino Rota, the composer of most of Fellini’s films, like “Casanova” and “Amarcord”.
