HANNA SCHYGULLA

  • Müzik ve Piyano: Jean Marie Sénia

Hanna Schygulla, an eminent actress of contemporary German cinema, has taken part in the master Works of such German directors as Schlöndorff, Wenders, Margharita von Trotta, as well as those of Godard, Wajda, Deville, Branagh and Scola. She has impressed Turkish audiences with the character she portrayed in Erden Kıral’s “The Blue Exile”. But the portraits Schygulla has drawn as Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s favourite actress in more than 20 of his films, have been, without a doubt, unforgettable. The role of Maria Braun gave Schygulla worldwide fame and she was affirmed as the most important actress, since Marlene Dietrich, that Germany has offered the international arts arena. Schygulla shows her gifts on stage as well as on the screen. In this special event of the 9th International Istanbul Theatre Festival, where Schygulla will interpret the works of such artists as Fassbinder, Jean Claude Carriére, Peter Handke, Heiner Müller, Baudelaire and Superville, she will be accompanied on the piano by Jean-Marie Sénia, who also composed the music. A performance not to be missed.
