At the heart of this play is a document that survives from a wedding night in 19th-century Yeniköy.

A dowry agreement listing seventy Ottoman liras, twelve towels, twelve linen tablecloths, three woollen dresses, a fur, a mirror and a chest is given voice 129 years later in a church established by decree of Mahmud II. Nothing is re-enacted: the document is read, and the audience becomes a witness to the reading. Written by Elif Özge Maltepe, drawing on Orhan Türker’s archival research, A Dowry Agreement is directed by Murat Daltaban.
