BAKIRKÖY MUNİCİPAL THEATRE

  • Written by: Bertolt Brecht
  • Directed by: Robert Sturua

Bertolt Brecht used Holderlin’s translation of Sophocles while writing his version of “Antigone.” He stressed the fact that his aim was not to give a lesson in morality but to transform a 2500 year old popular myth into our times. The world renowed theatre figure, Robert Sturua of Georgia’s Rustavelli Theater, has combined classical tragic elements within Brecht’s effect to alienation to create a play with a contemporary approach to direction. Antigone is performed by the Artistic Director of the Bakırköy Municipal Theatres, Zeliha Berksoy.
