“Drowsy Eyes of Istanbul” or as it was originally named “New Times/ Old Lives” is a sweet/sour, humorous/sad, exciting/calm tale, a rememberence, a warning. Starting from 1900, without falling into the trap of “ordinary nostalgia”, but stil telling the reality in an aesthetic way, it is a story probably based on the life of the author and/or those of peopleclose to her. It is the story of Istanbul and the disappearance of the real inhabitants of the city.
