Adapted from the poems of Nazım Hikmet. In Genco Erkal’s adaptation of the poems of Nazım Hikmet, the play “My People” is a combination of the poet’s life during his stay in the Bursa Prison and some scenes from some of his other works such as: “Portaits From My Country”, “Kuvayı Milliye”, “Epos of Sheik Bedrettin”, “Letters of Taranta Babu”. In the play, the poems which were written on different situations, create an organic unity with a common underlying theme. This theme is man. Erkal’s direction and interpretation together with his unique acting technique turns this performance into an outstanding event.
